A SPORTS RAID AND SUPPORT FOR MOROCCAN FAMILIES

This is the story of two work colleagues who have been involved in sports and solidarity projects for two years. In 2019, Caroline and Séverine took part in the UTAT, a 42-kilometre technical trail with a 2700-metre climb, to which they wanted to add a solidarity dimension in support of the villages of the Moroccan Atlas.

In addition to their sports equipment, the two friends packed 90 kilos of warm clothing for children donated by Kiabi in their luggage. “When we arrived in Marrakech, we were taken care of by Hassan, head of the association, with whom we had the chance to walk through the Ousserteck valley to meet the inhabitants. “We were given a wonderful welcome and shared some great moments with the families. The association is doing great work in the field, notably by creating activities to get the women out of their daily lives.

After three days rich in emotion and sharing, Caroline and Séverine went back to the UTAT base camp to prepare their race. “We met some great people among the organisers and the runners”. Nine hours of running under the sun in the middle of magnificent landscapes leaves its mark. “We came back transformed after this experience mixing solidarity, surpassing oneself, mutual aid, sharing, commitment and team spirit.

“We had planned to set up a sustainable project between UTAT and the Foundation, but the covid decided otherwise. This year at least! We hope to be able to continue the project.
